動詞で使える

影響する

[positively / negatively] affect- 「-に良い/悪い影響がある」

例文

Social media negatively affects our mental health.

「SNSはメンタルヘルスに悪い影響を与える.」

have a 形容詞 effect on- 「-にxxの影響がある」

例文

The investment will have a positive effect on the local economy.

「その投資は地域経済に良い影響を与えるだろう.」

POINT
  • [positive / beneficial / good] effect 「良い影響」
  • [negative / bad / adverse / deleterious] effect 「悪い影響」
  • cumulative effect 「累積的な影響」
  • destructive effect 「破壊的な影響」
  • ripple effect 「波及効果」
  • affectは動詞で「影響する」、effectは名詞で「影響」です. affectとeffectを逆に覚えて使ってしまう方が多いので注意が必要です.
  • effectはimpact、influenceでも言い換え可能です.

be susceptible to- 「-に影響されやすい」

例文

The young are susceptible to advertisements.

be subject to- 「-の影響下にある」

貢献する

contribute to- / make a contribution to- / be contributor to- 「-に貢献する、寄与する」

「過度の喫煙は癌の一因となりうる.」

POINT
  • contribute to- は「貢献する」のように良い意味で用いられることが多いですが、上記例文のように「一因となる」のように悪い意味で用いられる場合もあります.
  • contribute to- の後ろには名詞、代名詞、動名詞が来ます. 原形動詞は来ない点注意が必要です. lead to-も同様です.

roleは以下の形容詞と組み合わせて使うと良いでしょう.

依存する

depend on- 「-に依存する」

利益を与える

benefit- / be beneficial to- 「-に利益を与える」

例文

害がある、悪化させる

be detrimental to- 「-に害を及ぼす」

POINT
  • deteriorate「悪化させる」の対義語はameliorate「改善する」です. セットで覚えると良いでしょう.

exacerbate- 「悪化させる」

aggravate- 「悪化させる」

be about to- 「まさに-しようとしている」

するようになる

have come to- 「-するようになる」

優れている / 劣っている

be superior / inferior to- 「-より優れている」

POINT
  • superior / inferiorはラテン比較級と呼ばれ、通常の比較級と異なりthanではなくtoと一緒に使います.

負担がかかる

burdenは以下の形容詞と組み合わせて使うと良いでしょう.

苦労する

have difficulty -ing  「-するのに苦労する」

obligationは以下の形容詞と組み合わせて使うと良いでしょう.

問題に直面する

要求を満たす

-という結果になる

result in- 「-という結果になる」

POINT
  • contribute to-と同様、lead toの後ろには名詞、代名詞、動名詞が来ます. 原形動詞は来ない点注意が必要です.
